SLIP AND FALL
These are one of the most common types of injuries. The causes of injuries sustained from a slip and fall incident can vary a lot.
Many incidents involve someone walking in a store and slipping and falling due to the store owners’ failure to place a wet floor sign. Other causes include, but are not limited to, icy pavements, uneven sidewalks, poor lighting, and slippery stairs. The failure of the owner of a property, whether they be a municipality or private owner, can give rise to a claim against such a person.
If you decide to sue a local municipality, there is a ten day limitation period, and you must provide the municipality with written notice within that time. Failure to do so may result in your case being thrown out. In every slip and fall case it is very important to establish a strong case on liability. This involves noting down how the accident occurred and establishing who exactly was negligent, and therefore is to blame. You should also make an effort to collect as much evidence as possible, including photographs of the location and your injuries, maintenance records, witness statements etc.
